yep - i have an ev120 on my 55....it is very quiet and barely cleared the stand height (sitting in the sump). The mag 7 is a lot louder than the skimmer and while I would say it took a few weeks to tune (memory is fuzzy) - it did grab gobs of sludge out...but in the cup and the neck. One thing I liked about it was that there were no "moving" parts. Maintenance is basically just cleaning it, making sure the air tube is open (salt creep) and watching it whenever new water is added since it goes crazy...

That stated - it is pricey and everyone on these boards talks highly of asm/Euro (and mrc...whatever that will be called).

I had originally intended to upgrade to a bigger tank hence the skimmer.

I have owned an EV120 and an EV180. Gnerally the EV line is good stuff, but the reecommended pumps are usually undersized. Th EV120 recommends a Mag5, but runs so much better with a mag7. The EV180 recommends a mag7, but runs so much better with a mag9.5

I have an EV 180 and if I had to do it over I'd buy a different brand. As someone mentioned, the Euroreefs, ASM, and MRC's receive a lot of positive feedback in many threads.
