aquanetics 3/4 horse chiller

Hi

I have an Aquanetics 1/6 HP droop-in type chiller that I bought some 10 years ago. Haven't used it in a few years, but back when I did, it performed well. How old is your unit (new?) and what type of thermostat came with it? If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer them if I can.

When you deal with something that old, first make sure it still works. Plumb it using a powerhead and large bucket, and make sure the unit can still chill water.

I had a smaller one, that I didn't use for about 4 years, and then when I tried it, the fan would run, but the compressor was shot. Now I got to figure out a way to safely get rid of it.

The company is long out of business, and the unit uses the old freon, so repairs are going to be expensive.

I have a DS-2 by Aqualogic that has been in use for about three years on a 65 gallon. I have NOT run into any problems with the unit. It has been great. I am considering a full 1 hose for the setup we are working on downstairs. The DS-2 also comes with the controller which also has been flawless in performance.

Please note, we are talking about an Aquanetics chiller, not an Aqualogic chiller.

For years Aquanetics was just about the only game in town for chillers, but they went out of business years ago.

Aqualogic is still around, and makes good chillers, but it's not the same company.
