Aquatraders.com Lighting?

Hello guys

I'm looking to upgrade my lighting. Over the weekend another member of the club sugested a fixture from aquatraders.com he told me that the fixture was a good one, just that the bulbs were not the the best quality and sugested replacing all of them as soon as I get it. Has anyone have any experience with this unit please give me some feed back if you do.

the link to the unit is: http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=333

Also if you guys have any other sugestions were I could get a 48" unit I aroud the same price range I will appreciate the link to it.

Thank you...

I third to Ed's comment! My brother almost bought from them. They advertised a fixture that didn't even exist. They strung him along for weeks until they finally confessed to him that they built fixtures out of misc pieces by hand when they got around to it.

Check out our Sponsors. Link at the top of the page. TJF Pet Center carries alot of lights.

wow, I'm glad I never tried these folks out. The prices were just too good to be true I suppose. I thought they would be reputable because they were in some reefkeeping magazine that I liked.

Before you buy any other equipment definitely think about becoming a Member first. The discounts received from our vendors will pay itself back and while it may not be as cheap as the Aquatraders, you'll at least be helping this club out, a sponsor of the club and getting a decent price you wouldn't normally get (if you were a non-member).

Thank you for all the feed back, good thing I decided to post here before I bought it. Now I have to make a decesion to what fixture to get. I have a 72G now and looking to upgrade to a 120G within the next couple of months. Any suggestions?

I've dealt with aquatraders on a couple of pc fixtures for refugium lighting, etc. and been happy with them. However, i would agree with the overall census that the larger fixtures are not a good idea.

I like my aqualine oceanlight, 4' 2 250 HQI's. Very clean looking and small fixture and while a little more expensive than aquatrader's, i have piece of mind with the aqualine name. i recently purchased a pair of phoenix 14k DE bulbs which were on sale @ custom aquatics for $45! this said, i have little need for actinic supplementation. very happy with the color and the growth from the corals.

just my $ .02...
