Avast Plank feeder

Thinking about replacing my Neptune AFS auto feeder with the Avast plank feeder. Anyone have one here? Pros /cons. I like the idea of feeding Reef Roids with freeze dried instead of pellets.

I love my plank feeder. I have one that is hooked up to my apex on a timer.

Pros: Reasonably consistent food dosing, can handle multiple types of food, holds a lot of food, low maintenance
Cons: Two plugs (one for the water pump and the other for the food auger), you have to have your own timers for on and off times (i use my apex), a little big, a little tricky to put together

Overall, I wouldnt have bought it because of the price..but given I won mine..more than happy to say its fantastic

I wish I was that lucky. I plan on hooking up to Apex with a y plug so I only use 1 outlet on my eb832. How many times a day do you feed with yours?

The issue with this is that you really want the circulation pump to run longer than the feeder. Otherwise you'll end up with dry food in the mixing chamber just sitting until the next feeding. I have mine setup with the circulation pump on 24/7 to make things a little easier.

Here is my Apex code (Runs it for two minutes at 10/12/2/4/6/8):

Fallback OFF
OSC 000:00/002:00/118:00 Then ON
If Time 21:00 to 09:49 Then OFF

What size is your tank and what are you feeding from your Plank

Found this coding from someone on R2R that runs the pump on a timer so you can utilize a y plug if your interested

Sweet. I ordered some reef jerky that I plan on mixing with my Reef Roids. Can’t wait for this to come. Now I have to sell my Neptune AFS
