Banggai Cardinal

What are others experience with these fish. Most of the books seem to indicate they are easy to keep.

I am only talking about one fish, not multiples.

Easy as pie

As long as they are tank bred you should have no problems with one or 3.

Ive got a pair with clowns and a mandarin.

I agree we have had three since MACNA, again going to reiterate the tank raised point. They eat just about anything and are very peaceful. My wife and I joke that a bangaii's response to anything in the tank is eat it first and then spit it out if it is not food.

I was at the Hidden Reef a couple weeks ago and saw some. I don't think they moved for the whole 5 minutes I was staring at them. Here's a pic I snapped with the phone.

I could never find any tank raied ones. Apparently, my LFS's only sell wild ones. My original one and my new one both ate at the LFS. My original one lived for around 3 years and I've had my new one for about a month. The old one would only eat frozen brine or mysis, while the new guy eats flakes and mysis. Seam to be easy.

Everyone saying to buy tank raised is not because of not eating, but the Banggai is an endangered species in parts of the world. So please stop taking them from the wild.

If we continue to allow wild caught Banghaii in our LFSs this hobby WILL be solely responsible for their extinction from their natural habitat in the wild. Any LFSs still bringing in WC Banghaii need to be announced here in the forums so that we can ALL send a letter of concern to them. We can't allow this practice to continue.

Please pay the extra. Do not be responsible for the extinction of a species.
