Bare Bottom tanks

Saw this post on FW site and it looked cool. Does anyone paint the bottom of the tank if you go bare bottom?

"stone spray paint, it will take 4 or 5 coats but looks like you have sand in the tank"

I painted the outside bottom white with the idea that it would reflect light back up into the tank, but after awhile it wont matter since coral and coraline will just cover the bottom.

I agree for salt water coraline would cover the bottom anyway and was curious if people bothered to paint it. On the FW side there would not be coraline but there has to me something else that would cover the bottom making paint pointless.
