basement Window AC question

Since i have the big tank in the basement i was thinking of putting a AC unit in to cut the humidity down without running the de-humidifier which heats the basement up. would using an AC keep the humidity at bay? or am i better off trying to get an exhaust fan setup somehow to vent off the humidity

ok because the saltwater corroded the contacts on my dehumidifier that reads 95% humidity at all times now. off to craigs list

I put an air conditioner in my basement window recently. I found a low profile on craigslist that fit luckily. It wasn't the model I was looking for but it fit the window so I bought it. I only had 11 and 1/2 inches height to work with. There are not too many air conditioners made to fit that height. I found the lg6000 low profile unit, or Sears has a unit that is exactly the same for 20 dollars less brand new, that fit my space requirements. These are 110 volt units. They are energy star rated. Without a doubt the air conditioner takes the humidity out of the room and helps cool your tanks. Add a fan to your sump and that cools the water temperature down even more. Evaporation rate is tremendous. It seems all I do is make and replace water. I guess I replace about 10 gallons a day between my four tanks.

the window ac worked great while we where done and the salt feel is out of the air in the basement. thanks for responding
