Berghia Nudis....is there a local need?

I'm considering starting breeding berghia nudis. Is there a local need? I'd rather not ship, but if there is a good enough local need, I'd strongly consider starting up. I would need a few months to propagate enough aiptasia to be able to support the berghia.

Let me know if there is a need in the local area.

I'm sure you would have no problem selling them- I know someone who could use them- not me though

Asking for a friend? LOL
Yes, actually. He can't seem to get ahead of the problem. Lemon juice works for an occasional one I find. Granted, I can't see the back of my tank- who knows what's going on there- maybe a missing nem or 2 too lol

My tank had them EVERYWHERE! After 3-4 weeks. Can't find one anywhere. They wiped them out super quickly

Wondering, if you do get into this, how soon would you some for sale. And, in order to sell them here you'll have to be a paid member, just so you know

It would be a few months. The biggest issue isn't getting them to breed, it's having the quantity of aiptasia needed to feed them. They burn through a ton of aiptasia insanely quickly. Most breeders don't wait until the aiptasia is plentiful enough and end up running out of aiptasia to feed them. I have everything here and would be able to start growing aiptasia immediately, just need to breed enough aiptasia as crazy as that sounds.

No worries about being a paid member. I used to be. Then had no tank for many years. Just got a new tank set up a year ago.

Whats the method to grow aiptasia? do oyu just feed heavily and try to fake kill them so they spread and multiply?

I have so much aptasia lol. I'd love some berghias if a member sold them. Picked up a filefish at brick Petco but he was a dud

I know you are fairly local to me, if you have any rocks covered I would gladly take it off your hand and replace it with another rock to help feed the soon to be growing colony

The jury is out on this actually. Been doing a lot of research and there are people that said specific substrate grew more, cutting them in half, pissing them off, feeding them, etc. Then there are a bunch of people who say none of that helped grow them faster. I honestly feel like it is just about pure numbers. The more you have the more quickly they multiply. At least that is what I am going with. Trying to decide on what type of "tank" to use. Maybe a large stock tank with some rocks to give them more area to grow on. Maybe a few small 10 gallon tanks with rocks. Not sure yet.

Growing the aiptasia is the hardest part of this process lol.

Alright....You all have convinced me to give this a go. I am going to set up my first aiptasia tank this weekend. If anyone is local to Roxbury and has a small rock with aiptasia on it let me know. My DT is free of aiptasia so have to either source some or buy it.
