berghia

After re-aquascaping my tank on Saturday. I was sitting back enjoying the fruits of my labor when I said, "wait what's that!" I found a few aiptasia on the LR that was probably hidden in my old rock arrangement. So my new mission in life is to get them out. I'm not going to pull the rock out again. A few are tucked in a "cave" section of the rockwork that will make them almost impossible to to reach with a syringe for kalk paste or Joe's Joice. After some search on the web, I found this nudibranch that eats aiptasia called a berghia. They're not cheap. Has anyone ever heard or used these?

a guy I knew on RC had a pair and they ate up anemonies (aiptasia or not) with no trouble...laid him tons of eggs too. If you go this route - you may find someone who can ship his/hers to you (because after they finish eating, they don't have much use for them).

Generally speaking though - they shouldn't be spreading unless there is a nutrient imbalance - so if they're in a cave - just wondering if you even need to bother? Maybe some other folks with more experience with aiptasia can chime in.

Peppermint Shrimps are proven excellent inexpensive tool against aptasias. And will be very useful after eradicating aptasias as well.
