Wow, surprised I'm the first one back in the thread this morning. How did everyone make out? We didn't get nearly the 12-18" that was predicted for the area. I'm looking out the window and looks like about 6". Still some light snow blowing around and it's pretty windy. Not looking forward to go out to shovel. I don't even like using the snow blower on powder in this wind. Still have to go to work too, delayed opening, opening at 11:00, so I'm gonna have myself a lazy morning. Keep warm everyone :)

morning guys. everything AOK on my side. the spring lines on the boat snapped and there is minimal damage to both boat and dock. very crazy one yesterday. fish swimming around like nothing happened.

This is where I got mine. I went with a generac. Good prices and fast shipping. If you have a Harbor Freight by you, and yes I know it's a store usually written off as selling low grade junk (and they certainly have lots of that), the Predator generators there are very well reviewed.

edit; looks like my link didn’t attach, Electric Generators Direct | Specializing in Power Generators

@mickey sorry to heat that stinks... Why do you leave boat in water this late in season . When we had a boat it was taken out @ Halloween ?Not trying to be sarcastic. Just curious. There were some boats left in and they would add bubblers for winter

we were going to pull it but had too much going on and just left it in. i may do a short pull in the spring, idk. this is actually my wife's sailboat, all of my boats are on the hard right now. we are on a lagoon but we are the first house, so i haven't seen it freeze over yet, but i'll just go out and break up the ice even if it does - really i am highly doubtful it will freeze here.

Because this is Striper season. I’m taking mine out this weekend, as we may travel after the holidays.

Dave
I hated how my marina’s season ended Labor Day, then it was an additional $200/month. So to be in September/oct/nov for strippers it was an extra $600.

.

Really? Where are you located? I’m looking at a property down here. It’s a tiny little house with eight slips on a creek. 3 minutes to great bay, another 5-6 to get out to the inlet. He’s charging $800 a year for them, obviously you lose marina services, etc. maybe you can find something like that by you..

I'm in Denville, my boat was in Atlantic Highlands. Fished all around the hook. Loved chasing albies with the fly rod each fall. Tied my own flies. I had it 3 years. 1st year was $900 for the season then the fall add on, next year it went to $1300, then iirc $1700 the next year + the $600. I just didn't get down enough to justify the cost and sold it the following spring. I kept all my gear and would like another boat some day but for now I'll stick to my 2&4 wheel toys. My sil and her husband bought a house in Manahawkin and will be moving there full time soon, my wife wants to follow, if we do then maybe then.

we lived up in Sea Bright for a year, big premium on everything up that way because of the ferry, but hands down the best way to get into the city.
