that looks like the ora's hyacinths birdnest to me- would be easier to tell if it was a little older -it looks like its going to explode with hundreds of branches any day now greg its gonna be beautiful. Is that under the t-5 lighting?

Great B-nest. I've got one of it myself. Don't know the specific name, but I can tell you that when happy it will grow extremely quickly, and will take quite a bit of abuse without pouting (I hack into mine with whatever tools I can find to prevent it from growing into any other of my stonies....and it's never held the hacking against me.)

i would agree with you wendy up until i had something crazy happen. i grew a 1" frag of this color birdsnest to a nice colony over time and it looked great. one day a friend was over and asked me for a frag of it. as my hands were clean, i reached into the tank with the coral cutters and snipped off a branch (without taking the colony out of the tank). the next day i walked up to my tank to witness this-

I had one about the size of the soft ball die like that also. I don't remember fragging it. It would be interesting to know what really goes on with these.

Bleaching out, that's how I obtained mine, the mother colony was dieing off, just like the pics posted. I dipped the frags in Furan-2 and then lugals. it worked and the infection or whatever was causing the problem never came back.
