Black Tree Anemone?

While at the LFS I found this. I think it's incredible and would love to buy it. However I can't seem to find any info on it. The owner of the LFS was very candid in telling me he couldn't find much either. Anyone have experience with one? I really need to know requirments, ie lighting, compatibility with other tank inhabitants feeding etc. I'm sure this is going to sell quick but I didn't want to reserve or buy it if my system cannot support it.

Thanks
Tom

I wonder if that's an anemone at all. Those little bumps on the tentacles has me wondering.

Same here. I'm almost thinking it may be a dying feather star.

I searched the web and all I could find were these pics. They don't really match the pic in the thread.

Thanks for the help thus far. I have been searching also but can't find anything. I'm gonna try and find out if the LFS can give me how it was listed on the invoice. Otherwise I'm gonna just admire the picture I've taken and leave it right where it is for someone more experienced than I. (aka sucker) :D

Most LFS actually end up getting things called by the wrong names a LOT. The invoice could actually be the wrong place to look to ID this but it is worth a try.

What you have there Tom is a very dangerous anemone :) It is one of the Actinodendron, aka Fire Anemone, Hell's Fire Amenone, Tree Anemone, Branching Anemone and are very difficult to raise.

Here are some links and pics

Thank you very much Boomer. Based upon that information that beautiful creature will remain right where it is. The LFS lol

Well Tom, I may have to disagree :D It may be better off if you have it than a LFS :-X

This is how I feel too. They have a better chance of surviving in our tanks, then we can share our experience on them with fellow reefers.
