Bottle Isolation protector

I am trying to create a clear protector for my Torch. Someone suggested a clear plastic bottle with holes and weighted down to be placed over it.
This would give the Torch time to heal, nothing can pick at it and I can observe it.
Last night I peeled the label off a bottle and the glue part was sticky. I scraped with a razor blade, washed in hot water and vinegar.
This morning the glue is still a bit sticky. My question:
Is it safe to place this in my tank?
