breeding cleaner shrimps

I have a pair. They both regularly carry eggs.
And from time to time I see swarms of small things that look like baby shrimps.
Of cause they get eaten within a day.
Have anyone tried to breed-raise them? If there is interest, I could try to catch some of the babies and deliver so you could raise them (if you know how).

congrats on the success of having them breed.I once had a pair that bred and had a few batches and like yrs they were gone in a day.It was a great experience.Good luck on furthering yr experience (or combined attempt) with raising the fry

I wonder how they would hold up in a frag tank. Im gonna get a small one started in a couple of weeks. So if they would be ok in there i might be interested. But as far as feeding them I would not even know where to start.

At the MACNA held in Pittsburg (I don't remember the MACNA number) one speaker mentioned that there was a company in Europe that had managed to successfully breed and raise Cleaner Shrimp. The company hasn't released any info on how they accomplished this - it is a "trade secret". Seems like the challenge is that the shrimp goes through 17 (?) molts, and that each molt has a unique plankton required for feeding the shrimp at that particular stage of development. That said, I've also heard stories of hobbyists finding small adult Cleaner Shrimp in the filter socks from the overflows of the tanks that contain their shrimps...

Good Luck...

Congratulations. Shrimp need to be raised in a kriesel after capture. A kreisel is a sort of tumbler for the larvae. They also will have special diet requirements. They won't just live if you put them in a sump or frag tank. There is a lot of info and people on this site that can help you. http://www.marinebreeder.org/forums/

I had a pair of coral bandeds any they were always havin babies. Like everyone said though, they were always gone very quickly. Between the current and other things eating them they dont last long
