Am I missing something......I was kicking around the idea of putting together a group buy for BRS, and I'm no longer seeing the cost savings??? I also didn't see the savings we use to get being a "Preferred Reefer." It appears to be the same price, but now get free shipping??? Am I missing something.

nope you're correct. it looks like they changed their policy:

Preferred Reefers take an active role in the reefing community and have valuable information to share - so why not get credit for that. How about 5x bonus points (5% back!) almost every item we stock, free shipping on every order and free upgraded shipping on orders over $199 in the contiguous US?*

So if you're already a preferred reefer, why do a group buy? What's the benefit?

I'm sort of bummed...the biopellets I buy sell for 160, and the last group buy I got them for about 127. Now I have to buy them at 160!!!

basically.. we get free shipping now. so for small orders, I might go to BRS rather than foster & smith since I have free shipping. For large orders I now have reasons to look at other vendors rather than just knowing my preferred price is cheaper than anywhere.

I wonder what their average order is from preferred reefers. if it's under $200, then it was a smart move on their part & a benefit to the community overall. but if it was over $200(which I suspect it was) this was just a $ saving idea for them and basically just screwed all of us sadly.

Joe, I'm bummed because it's the loss of the deal! BRS still might be the best deal at 160....it's hard to compare because they all use different units....pounds, fluid ounces, mls, gallons, etc.

There are only two basic polymers used in biopellets and I haven't been convinced that their is any difference between brands (and I'm not including those GFO combo pellets). I also don't believe that bacteria have a discerning pallet. They see it, they eat it, done!

I can't remember what the free shipping limit was...149, 175...regardless, I always order enough to get the free shipping.
