My 40 breeder frag tank, used, had deep scratches and was fogged up, bad enough that you could not see anything clearly thru the Plexiglas. Replacing it was not really a option due to cost. And the tank was up and running, fully stocked and tied into the main system in a over flow loop.
Well I ordered Novus 3 part products for cleaning and restoring Plastics and yesterday started the repair. Start to Finnish took about 6 hours.
The results are better then I expected. A few scratchs are still visable but the fog has been eliminated.
Following are the pics of the process. LOT of work involved!!
GregH
First Break down the tank and park the livestock in coolers with powerheads and heaters.
Second was to clean the tank of the Coraline, That was acomplesed using Novus Part 1 Cleaner and a credit card for scraping. Next was the first Buffing out with Part 3 Heavy scratch remover, this was done 3 times cleaning off the old product with a cotton cloth between each buffing.
Close up of the buffing.
Next is buffing again, 3 times with Part 2, fine scratch remover.
Next step was a final cleaning, Dish detergent was recommended and many rinses and wiping down to remove and contaminants and residues. Lots of clean water!
Next a fill and check for leaks.
Final Set up, hooked back into the system and restocked. I also took the opportunity to re due the egg crate shelving. I am skimming heavy and using carbon just to be safe.
Final Setup!! GregH
