BuGG's 120gal tank thread

I wanted to share my tank thread with you. My wife and I have met so many nice, knowledgeable and generous reefers in the 2+ years we've been in the hobby. We started with a 34 gal Solana which my wife inherited from her uncle. Her family knew we always liked fish so she got the tank. However, our experience with fish started with a 1 gal with neon freshwater fishes. Worlds apart from reefing! Sadly, we lost some fish and corals when we were learning. But with forums such as NJRC, we have successfully upgraded from the 34 gal to the 120 gal. So here's our story in pics:

The 34 gal prior to the upgrade. It was full to the brim with corals and livestock.

And with several fish and cleanup crew. This was the 3rd week of cycling. No ammonia and nitrites.

More pics to come later!!

After another week or two, all the corals have been relocated to the 120. The aquascape has changed as well.

I know you're not supposed to add an RBTA on such a new tank, but I figured since we used all live rocks, that the nem would be happy. Plus, we got it at a great deal with the snowflake. This was probably 2 months after cycling.

This is still my favorite piece in the tank.

Let's take a look at some of the corals in the tank. Most of my corals are still frags. I can't wait for them to grow out. These are not in any order. I forgot when and where I bought some of these corals. Some pieces were also given by generous reefers, so THANK YOU!!

Finally! Been wondering when you were going to start up a thread! :) Love the tank, and it's always a pleasure seeing you guys. Would you be interested in a Harptail Blenny? http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+23+1141&pcatid=1141 <--- Is what it is. I picked it up for like 5$ about 2 months ago. It's eating like a pig and healthy as can be. Lmk if you want it (or another Scooter! :))

Edit: I got most of the other Scooters trained on frozen food now :)

Also, that is a Acro I got from Absolutely Fish. They didn't have a name for it, but the colors were nice cool enough.

Where do you get all your cool fish? The harptail looks almost like our midas blenny. They might fight. Let me research it first and I'll let you know. I wish I trained our scooter to eat frozen food first. He just ignores food and looks for pods all day. I'll hold off on the other scooter. I'd like a pair of mandarins, but that won't be in the near future. The acro is encrusting on the plug. I'll have to glue it on one of my rocks soon.

Haha, I make friends with all the fish stores I go to. I work out deals with them. So, they give me discounts on fish (Just slightly over cost), this way, they make money and I do as well. Though, 9/10 I end up giving the fish away for free since I'd rather see them go to good homes then just to whoever can afford them lol. I also have a Undulated Trigger, a B/W Clown (Like 2.5"), a Sixline Wrasse, and a pair of ORA premium snowflakes. All for sale :

Once I move and set up my Clown Breeding rack, some of the stores you'll catch my clowns in will be Fin City Aquatics (Sparta), Dover Pet Shop (Dover), Absolutely Fish (Clifton), and the Aquarium Care Center (Ocean Twnshp). :)

I know someone in the Bronx who is selling a Black Snowflake for 60$. If you want, I can find his e-mail address and you can get in touch with him? If not, you can wait till I get one from mixing clowns :p. Most of my clowns are either ORA or SA. They give good quality fish :)

I knew it wouldn't be long Jose, nice tank Jun, i see your rocks have changed a bunch of times looks good, let me know when you are ready to break off a piece of those two monties I would like a frag when they grow out.

Haha,no rush on the black snowflake. The one I have always bites me when my hand is in the tank. I can't imagine 2 of them biting me. LOL. Plus, I actually think I'm overstocked with fish already.

Thanks Rob. Which montis are you looking at? I'll take a mental note to hook you up with a frag when they get big enough.

Edit: Ugh!! Nevermind. I only have 2 monti pics on my post. LOL.

Yeah, every time I put new corals in my biocube, my 2 premium snowflakes go haywire on me. Once they start to host something, they get VERY protective lol

Edit: By the way Jun, I have a two headed... I'm not sure if it's a torch or a hammer yet lol. It's really small though, but, if it turns out to be a hammer, I have a three headed one of the same thing. If it is a Hammer, it's yours :)

I've seen the tank from day one and just recently saw it this past weekend and the tank looks amazing. Definitely a tank to keep tabs on because it just gets better and better. They way Jun is going, he is definitely going to need a bigger tank soon. lol

PS. Jun upgrade that skimmer next! haha

Thanks Judeo. Let's just say that when the skimmer breaks, I won't miss it. LOL. The pipe to adjust it is being held up by a velcro tie but it still works. haha!!
