Buying from wholesalers

Does anyone know how to get a tax exempted to be able to buy from wholesalers? I am looking to open a online ebay aquarium store?

Any suggestions?

You will need to get a Tax ID number from the Federal Government - you can do it online

then you need to apply for NJ registration and the authority to collect sales tax - which is also your resale #

Most of the wholesalers will require a storefront too.
Often they will not deliver to a residence.

Take my advise it will not be easy. I have been selling on ebay since 1998 and unless you can dedicate a lot of time and be willing to deal with some real tough customers, have a very small profit margin ( no room for error) Deal with ebay & paypal fee's, shipping fee's. then Don't do it...LOL. Distributors and wholesalers will want a business location, reseller Certificate ( business licence ) Business checking account and trade referances otherwise they will not sell to you. you might be able to find a wholesaler that will sell to you but you probably wont get good pricing and will not be able to compete. I am a small business and a wholesaler, I have to compete against some of the big guy's like Dr Fosters & Smith & Big Al's and they are only 2 of many, so it is a real tough business to get started in. Sorry if I turned you off to the idea but it's the truth, the toughest thing is competing with other on-line sellers.
