Hey everyone, so I'm in the market for 2 mp40's and 1 mp10. I wanna be able to link them all together. Which models should I get? And anything to look for/ask about when getting these used? Thanks guys!

You want to make sure they are MP10/40"w" ES. The W is for wireless so they can be linked together.

Okay thought so. Now I'm seeing generation 1 and 2. I hear the 2nd is better? And I've also seen "mp40w" is that the same thing as "mp40wes"? Sorry for all the questions
Do you have a controller of any kind? I had my MP40s synced up for about 5 months, added the module for my Apex, what a different. While the ability to sync the power heads is nice, the ability to control them and change the settings through the day automatically just increases their value tremendously.
No I don't have a controller yet, plan to get an apex in the future but have to really save up for one, or find a great deal on one.
W is wireless and has just the standard modes, reefcrest etc. The WES models have ecosmart modes as well as all the standard modes, so they are different. You can upgrade the old controllers if you really need to as well.

Is manufacturer date really a big deal? I always see ppl asking about it.
Pretty much texted you this dan but the ES mode really makes a difference IMO it's an amazing combo that pulls detritus up from everywhere and makes a nice swaying wave when set right. If you get an older model run reef crest but Ecosmart (ES) is my favorite mode

I believe Kyle meant the "Nutrient Export" mode, which is one of a few extra modes you get with the Eco Smart models.
