you are setting ur self to a no good. i used to have blue face, queen and flame. they were all good at begining then all the sudden turn into corals eater and shrimp eaters

Same here. I had a few juvi angels and added some coral. Everything went well for a while then one day they went on a coral binge! The only thing that wasn't touched were the mushrooms and a leather. That said, i know several people who've had queen and french angels (not adults) in reef tanks for a few years. I love my angels so that was the end of my reef experiment. I do want to start up a nano or a 40g reef in the near future. good luck.

I don't have a Queen Angel, but I do have an Eibli Angel, which is also supposed to be one to watch for in reefs. I haven't had any issues yet (only a few weeks after him being in a QT for a month).

When I first put him in the QT, I added a small zoa frag, a piece of red macro algae, and even a few pieces of anthelia. He began to nip at the zoas first, then moved onto the other two once I removed the zoa frag. I was immediately concerned and was beginning to plan out another tank setup for the Eibli if he couldn't be trained.

I think the key is to train them to eat what you feed them... and get them accustomed to eating something other than corals. I used live black worms, frozen mysis/brine combination, and some dry flakes and kept him fed and happy in the QT. At the end of the month, I tested him again with the zoa frag and he went for the black worms instead. Once I put him in the big tank with the others, he was used to eating what I gave him and he hasn't touched any corals yet.

It's still early, so he may end up going for my corals... but he seems content on eating what I give him. It also helps to have a timed schedule so that they get used to eating when and what you feed them.

To give another disclaimer, I believe it all depends on the individual fish, not necessarily which species. One hobbyist may have good results with one species while another may not with the same species. It's sort of trial and error, but it's important to have a backup home planned in case it doesn't work out.

Good luck!

Like the others have said, it probably won't work out good in the long run. The tank size may also be an issue too.

George - Glad to hear the Eibli is doing good with the corals.

If u want a reef with a angel a queen would b near the bottom of the list for reef safe. A 90 is too small for a queen anyway though, for that size stick to the dwarf's.... flame, coral beauty, potters, etc
