Can someone recommend so good T5 lights

I was considering getting some T5 lights for my new tank. Any use them or can someone recommend some good ones. are T5 more expensive that power compacts? I hear they don't run as hot as pc or MH ?

I run the Current USA Nova T5 4 bulb on my 75 gal mixed reef?
Everything is looking good. Tank has been setup for a little over 1 year.
My tank is located in my Deli dinning room in Oakhurst, NJ, If your are local stop by and check it out!

What size is your new tank? How deep? What are you planning on keeping?

I have used the TekLight T5s in the past and was very, very pleased.

I ran a 4x39w fixture on a 65g tank (24" high) and LPS had no issues on the bottom. Crocea clam near the top wasnt displaying any signs of distress. I didnt try any SPS>

The only problem with the TekLights is the price. They are much more expensive than other T5 systems on the market, but IMO they are better. I really shopped around and compared quality, reflectors and also the mounting/hanging systems and came to the conclusion that my money was better spent on the Teks than another system. They have a parabolic reflector for each bulb whereas the other systems I saw only has the single reflector for 4 or 6 bulbs. Because of this the Teks are a bit wider than other makes...for instance a 4x39w Tek system is 12" wide while the Nova Extreme 4x39w is only 7" wide. But again, the Nova is half the price ($190 vs $360 for the Tek)

Personally I felt that the light was a HUGE step up from PCs.

On that 65g tank I went from an Orbit 36" 4x96w Power Compact fixture to the TekLight 36" 4x39w T5 ficture and there was a remarkable difference. Not only did the tank appear brighter, but "crisper" if that makes sense. The colors were more vibrant. Another plus is with the T5s you have a ton of bulb choices. I highly recommend the 12K aquablues.

Anyway, those are my experiences. I dont have pictures to show you but as I said above, the Tek T5s were far superior to the PCs IMO.

I do not have any personal experience with any other brand of T5s.

I have an IceCap Retro fit kit on my 90g. I absolutely love them.

They replaced PC's. The difference was amazing!

I think i have the same hood. 4x96w with 4 moon LEDs. Good stuff. on sale at dr fosters for $199 i believe.

Another guy on here has the same hood too

I'm pretty new to corals, but it's bright enough my wife makes me turn it off at dinner time. ;)

I would like to see a side by side with the Nova and Tek fixtures. Seems like a waste to have a 160w fixture if your reflectors are worth 50%.
