Celebrated a milestone today

So today was an emotional day for me, but in a good way,, my oldest daughter officially graduated college with second highest honors u can get (3.8 avg)
I couldn’t be any prouder than I am today. She is first one in my family to ever finish college ( let alone with honors) wife doesn’t count not in bloodline. Also she was offered a job in the career she studied in and was given a sweet deal right from door ( they hired her even before she graduated) I’ll tell you she was on top of the world
Then everything came crashing down with this virus the school canceled graduation and did the most cheesy horrible online graduation thing I could ever imagine,,sort of pissed me off all the money I spent on a tuition and they put the worst effort into doing something online,, I believe they had plenty of time to prepare for since canceling school months ago anyway the worst part is that her new job had to lay her off already because everything that is going on the poor kid was crushed she felt like her whole world had just blown up but she realizes it’s not just her it’s everybody but all the same she just feels cheated out of all that hard work

So today we arranged a little parade to come down our street and hoot n holler, honkthe horn all that stuff to show her just a little appreciation for all her effort that she put it in,,there was family they were friends from high school a couple of high school teachers which was a surprise and a cop car and ambulance the police car first and the ambulance dead last it was the best I could do during the circumstances it brought tears to her eyes and also mine
So that was my good day today also my tank is looking awesome so two good things

Super awesome paulie. Thanks for sharing. That was very special. Let her know we are proud of her to.

Congrats to her Paulie , and you for keeping her on the right path.
I let my wife handle the education part and I handled the you better watch yourself part I am not proud to admit but I ruled with fear,, my daughters were scared to death to step out of line because they knew if daddy got angry that it could get ugly,, My favorite line to my daughter when she went out as a teenager was,,,”today’s not the day I want to be a grandpa “,,,and that’s all I ever had to say.I could not be any more proud of the person she is because the two most important things I put into her was compassion and empathy ,,it’s the two things my mother made me learn it is the two things I made sure to pass on because with those two qualities you can’t go wrong

Great story Paulie. It sounds like she should be able get back on top of the world as soon as this crisis passes. All the best for her!
