Chiller

Good morning!

I would like anyone's input on this....

I have a submersible pump to return water into my 90 gallon tank from the sump. The flow rate on the pump is 1330gph. Can you recommend the correct chiller for my saltwater aquarium? I have a 1/10hp Current Prime chiller on my 55 right now. I am moving to the 90 gallon tank shortly and don't think the 1/10hp will be strong enough. The specs on the chiller rate it for up to 700gph.

Thanks,

Michael

Are you breaking down the 55 and upgrading to the 90?
The 1/10 will bring the 90 down a few degrees. You would either need a smaller pump to run the chiller, or you can T off the 1330 pump with a valve and feed the 1/10 with half the flow.

I agree w/ Mike, T off the return and feed it to the chiller. Also, 700gph through a chiller is way too much flow to effectively cool things. It should be more like 300gph through that chiller. 1/10hp might be enough on a 90g if you reduce this flow through the chiller. How much degrees pull down do you need?

I have the same chiller (recommended 500gph) and I run a Mag 5. I read where people had this chiller on a 120. Depends on your ambient room temperature.
