Cleaning a Thermoelectric Chiller?

Hello there,

My chiller/heater has been running for 6 months and 2 weeks. I was thinking that maybe I should take it apart and clean it at the next scheduled water change along with the external blueline hd-20 pump, just to make sure there is no calcium buildup or anything. What do you guys think? Too soon? I should? If so what is the normal procedure? Fill the chiller with vinegar and let it sit for awhile? maybe make a closed loop between the chiller and the pump and just let the vinegar cycle? might make pressure... also might ruin pump propeller if anything does come loose. hmmmm.. Just toss out some suggestions and thanks for the information.

Thanks!

I actually used LimeAway which was recommended in the maintenance manual. I let it run for a few hours from a bucket in a loop. I also ran fresh water through it, changing the water out every few hours, for about a day. No problems. The chiller was sold a few months back and no issues reported.

Hello Bro!

I actually considered that or vinegar, but I just got a response back from the company that makes them and this was there reply:

Hello there,

I have a cl-150 chiller that has been running for 6 months and 3 weeks on a Aquapod 12 gallon tank. I am thinking that I should probably clean it by now? I was wondering what you suggest for cleaning that will not kill the reef once it is all hooked back up? How long you think it should be cleaned for? The vents are clear, no dust in there. Is there a manual some place to take this thing apart? Should I use vinegar just in case there are any calcium deposits? How can I be sure that the temperature probe inside is clean and giving an accurate temperature?

Any and all information you have will be helpful so that I do this correctly, under warranty with no issues. I appreciate your time and help.

REPLY FROM PACIFIC COAST:

There is no cleaning just keep it dust free and dry
