Clowns moving sand bed?!?

I have a pair of maroon clowns that I have has for a few years. They seem to be constantly moving my sand bed into piles. Are there any clowns that will leave the sand bed alone? Is it just the more aggressive maroons that do this?

It seems the bigger clowns (maroons and clarkiis) are prone to do this. I have false percs and true percs and they have never done it.

My Maroon just moves rocks.. if she don't like where I place the small ones they end up on the send bed

my perc clowns do it to- i think they want an anemone to charge into or something because when i took the anemone out they started doing it.

Its not just large clowns, its all clowns.

They are trying to clear an area, find a rock, and maybe lay eggs. They want to make it their own home.

Do they have an anemone?

I have had nigripis do this akinydnos and leucokranos.

My maroon will move anything up to about 4 times her size/weight. Crazy fish. Very territorial and intense neat freaks. If this behavior just started they may be planning to spawn. I do think they tend to do this less if they have an anemone.

The club has (at my house right now) two beautiful rBTAs for sale (40$). Let me know if you want one!

One of the reasons im buying yours.. Hope it stops the rock moving

my roon does the same. when i get corals it doesnt like, it picks up rocks and cc and drops it on them. i had a small frag of zoas that for some reason it hated and overnight would literally bury them no matter where i put them. if i put them in the rock he would pick it up and drop it on the bottom and cover again...pia fish! ;D

He speaks. . . and then behavior changes. Our black clowns in the 20g have started to move around the sand bed- it seems like they are trying to move sand away from their favorite rock.

They have a green bta that they are hosting. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why she moves the sand / rocks / frags. The male dosent do it. Just her. I was thinking about selling them for another species but looks like they all do it.
