Cooking Rock

So I have a nice piece of shelf rock that riddled with mushrooms. If I put this rock through a vinegar bath then bleach bath followed by a scrubbing and drying period I assume this would rid the rock of shrooms. Right? would I then need to worry about them coming back. Thanks in advance.

I have never intentionally killed mushrooms, but I do think Vinegar alone should work.
I have de-zoaed a rock before, and de-star polyped, and vinegar worked for both of those.

I'll try the vinegar only then. This rock in my mind is a perfect piece so I really want to use it, but these shrooms are out of hand.

Aphasia-X in the mouth also works, just make sure you have gloves and goggles on if you want to try it.

I'll look into it. I'd need a lot. Lol. Before I rid myself of them if anyone wants some let me know.

I had a rock covered in mushrooms a few years ago. They took over most of my nano. I took the rock out and brought it into work and used our big power washer to blast the heck out of them. I set it n the parking lot hooked the power washer up to house and went to town! Sure enough a few months later up came a baby mushroom on the same rock!!!

Sure be a downer.

I'm gonna beat them someway.

Please I beg, don't ever treat live rock that way. If you need to get something off it, try physically removing it first. If that doesn't work, put it though a curing process. But don't do anything to kill off the "live" part of the rock. Blasphemy IMO. (oh the pain)

If it wasn't mushrooms I wouldn't bother I would just put into a container in the dark and let it burn itself out. Frankly there is no way to physically remove mushrooms to this extent. They will just come back. I've had enough burned spots on my montis and they are far more important. The rock will surely be live once again.

Wish I had known, I am looking for mushrooms :(

Could have picked up with the monti frags

Muriatic Acid is the way to go.dipped the rocks I used on my build with it and it cleaned it right up. I just dipped it for about 2 hours and then soaked overnight with freshwater. I then let it dry overnight.
