Coraline Growth

Ive noticed in a lot of the pictures of tanks here on NJRC have good coraline alge growth.. what do you need to do to encourage this?? Thanks in advance..

in my opinion - not a whole lot. Introduction of LR and/or frags with some coraline - and the tank will eventually just take off. It's one of those "patience is a virtue" kind of things. No need for additives or anything - just maintain the appropriate balance for seawater and you should be good to go. I'm not mentioning the obvious (lighting) since to me whether you have pc/vho/t5/mh/leds - they all should work.

Lighting and calcium are the 2 most important things with Coraline growth, bright and higher wattage lighting in the 6500-10k range slow growth, lighting in the 12-20k range lower wattage better to faster growth. Calcium level should be 400-450 range

If you maintain good water guality, and low nitrates and phosphates, you get good cotaline growth.

After you have to start scraping off of filtration system parts a few times, you'll just consider it another nuisance algae.
