Most people have rubble with coralline on it. I got a empty frag from Ultimate Corals to get the coralline algae (The coral probably released from the frag). I have bought a coral with coralline on the frags; many frags have some (and on a few occasions, the presence or coralline algae determined which frag of a type I selected. Do a picture search for coralline algae to get an ideal of all the types. I have green, dark red, pink and purple types, as well as some that stick out like lichen. There are also companies that sell bottles of pink or purple coralline algae or coralline covered rocks. I also introduced some sponges that were on frags as well. But the truth is, if you grow corals, it will find its way into your tank. Some manufactures make live rock that are colored. That is not coralline algae. Also note that many people scrape coralline encrusted rocks into their tanks. To be clear. You can buy coralline frags. And I was unaware it came in different colors
While I have seen a few people offer frags of some coralline its ver rare and usually a plating type.To be clear. You can by coralline frags. And I was unaware it came in different colors

https://arcreef.com/product/coralline-algae is a source. I personally think that the hitch hikes are one of the most interesting aspects of a reef tank, being amphipods, copepods, fan worms, sponges, snails, hydroids, various crawling worms or coralline algae. Some like aiptasia are a pest, but not the end of the world. I used to get up at night and shine a red or UV flashlight just to see what came out at night. Most things don't see the red and UV makes many things fluoresce.Dose anyone recommend a place to buy coralline for the purpose of sending. I would prefer to avoide hitch hikers.
I live in Jackson, NJ. I do have a few rocks in saltwater from my last tank. They are not under bright lights, so there is not a lot of coralline, but enough on a few. Hitchhikers could include some pods, snails, worms, aiptasia, green bubble algae, and purple sponge. Send a conversation if you want to follow up.Would you be willing to part with a bit of that type that you describe as lichen. And frankly any type. I'll he starting up in another few weeks and I'll be looking for any and all forms as well as hitchhikers as well.
