I was wondering if anyone has ever bought corals or fish while on vacation and brought them home on the airplane. If so, how did you pack them? I'll be going to Orlando in two weeks and was thinking of going to the LFS's down there if I have time.
Good luck with that... the way flying is now.. I wouldnt try to bring anything unnecessary.. I would think that it would be a nightmare trying to explain that your corals are not some sort of Weapon of Mass Destruction.
I recently saw an episode of Airline on A&E and some guy was trying to get a majestic angel on the plane and they would not let him but the week before they let it go thru. I would not risk it. My mom and dad fly all the time, in fact they had tickets to Vienna on Sept 12 2001, they, of course could not go. They said that international travel is not as strict as domestic, which I know is hard to believe. Save yourself the aggravation.
Mike.
I would suggest contacting the airline first. I know one airline says no way but I forget what one that was.
When I went to IMAC I brought frags for friends and took some home. I flew continental and they never even questioned me.
I use the pint soup containers from my local Chinese take out joint. Then bag the container just in case. I had 3 containers in my backpack. I sent them through the x-ray and no one even asked to look. I think fish might get questioned more then some rocks in water. At least that is what I think they would look like in an x-ray machine? Maybe they thought I was carrying Chinese soups home LOL
my brother came from california 2 months ago & i gave him 10 frags & a huge colony he called the airline & they said he could carry them on as long as the cooler was small & it was he had no problem ,he was an a continental fligh, 3 weeks ago he was here again & i gave him more corral & some L/R continental said coralls are fine but no L/R it had to go in the cargo.
