The guy I purchased my Hydra's off of had the Rollermat. It was big. Took up quite a bit of room. His water did look very clear though. He said that he enjoyed not cleaning socks anymore

I've also seen DIY versions of this. I just wonder what that used roll of material smells like after X number of weeks. I know my wife yells at me when I leave a filter sock in the sink overnight.

This was always my concern as well. I know how bad my filter socks smell after a week or so.

This is another downside to them, the size, not everyone has the room. I think this is a pretty cool design to maximize space.
