I am in the market for a chiller and Marine Depot is having a huge sale on a "1/3 HP Current USA Prime Drop-In Chiller w/ Single-Stage Thermostat". I am curious if anyone has ever used one and what your experience was. Also if you have any other input on similar drop in chillers please let me know. My tank is an Oceanic 120 and feel that this should be large enough to keep my water cool in the summer.

Chilers are only effective if you have a way to exhaust the hot from the room. Otherwise you end up in an endless cycle of exhuast air making the room hotter which makes the tank hotter which turns on the chiller which makes the room hotter which makes the tank hotter which....

If you can't exhuast the chiller outside you're better off cooling the whole room with a window unit AC.
