different salt brands

hi all im wondering what kind of salt is the best to use..this one shop near me thats closing down has tons of oceanic at 50% off and i was wondering what the general concensus is on that brand. I wasnt sure where this should be posted so if theres a better place for this other than general discussion sorry.

Honestly most salts are good enough that with a little doctoring here or there your fine.

If you can get a good price on a salt then it's probably worth while to use.

The only time I'd recommend not going this route is if you have super sensitive corals that have been running on one salt brand for extended periods of time. The difference in alkalinity is probably the one thing to watch more then anything else in situations like this as things like calcium and mag can be boosted. But if you keep your alkalinity at 8 dkH and get a salt high in alk you have to watch the water change percentages as you could raise these levels more then you think and some corals don't like the alk to jump.

Carlo

BTW, what kind of price are you going to get on the Oceanic after the discount?

i havent been able to get a solid answer on it cuz every kid that works there tells me sumthing different im gonna try and get there soon and find the boss man and see what he'll give it for once i find out a concrete answer ill let you know if its worth it cuz 50% off means nothing if its twice as expensive as every other store

i never heard much about that brand salt so never was too interested because any time iv heard about brands they were either Instant Ocean or reef crystals

Haze, is that the old Pets choice place by burger king? Any idea how much they where selling 40 and 50 gal breeders for?

im not sure if it was once called pets choice but yea it is near BK in bayville they have one 40 breeder but its got a hole in the bottom so if ur using it for a snake or sumthin ur ok but no water unless you replace the bottom..i seen a couple 55's there not to sure bout price tho.. they had a 55g,stand and a 39g all together for like 150..the stand holds both tanks 55 on top 39 underneath. tons of 2 1/2,5,10, and 20h+L tanks tho
i posted a topic on the for sale page bout em they are all used but cleaned up good ..

it depends on who sells the stuff to you tho they all seem to jus make up the prices as they go along if there isnt a price on them so if you make an offer they'll prolly take it
