Directors at Large Central Runoff

We are having a runoff election to pick a Director at Large from between our two tie candidates, ReefDrumz and EBqwert. They were both in chat last night and will let us know when they'll be able to make chat next week.

I've asked each of them to post here with a little information about their club, hobby and life experiences that would make them the best candidate for the task. Thank you both for your dedication to the club and desire to help us move forward.

This is our last hurdle to get over prior to filing for status.

So if you haven't yet... head over and vote!

Well Here we go...

Hi everyone, my name is Brian and I am from South Plainfield NJ, I was born and raised in Port Reading NJ.
(ever heard of it?)
I am 32 years old,got married to my wife Debbie on Mischief Night of last year (Halloween Wedding, Costumes and all!)
We have 2 kids (pugs) Duke and Cosmo (which there is a picture floating around these boards somewhere).  :)

I've been into fish for just about my whole life. Mostly Freshwater. About 5 years ago I received a Saltwater Tank setup (44 gallon pentagon) as a bonus for running the company I work for when the owners were away on a months vacation. We had a SW setup @ work and I used to drool over it all the time.. So my bosses decided to shut me up! I am currently the General Manager of a Printing Company, I have worked here for 8 years so far. Hopefully that would be some sort of benefit to the club if and when we need to get printing done.

Currently I have 120 gallon mixed reef and a 90 gallon FOWLR (and some hair algae!) That 90g tank has a Gold Puffer (which was sold to me a regular dog face puffer, woo hoo!),A clown trigger and a Emperor Angel.
My pride and joy is my Emperor Angel. I have been wanting that fish since I got into the hobby...but I actually had patience for once in my life and waited till I knew I had the experience and equipment to take care of that sort of fish.

I would really like to get more involved in the club for numerous reasons. First being; I Love Fish!
Secondly; I would also like to meet more people who share the same passion for this hobby since most of my friends don't have tanks.

Thirdly (is that a word!?!) My wife and I are also in A pug rescue. So I am aware of things that need to be done for non profit organizations.

Well I hope this gives all of you a better idea of the person I am and Hopefully I will be able to get to some meetings and get to meet all of you!

Take Care

Greetings:

I’m Eric and use the name Ebqwert here and on other board and email addresses. For those that are interested EB are my initials and qwert is the 5 top most keys on the left side of the keyboard.

I was born in Brooklyn and lived there in a shoe box in the middle of the road till my parents moved us by wagon train to Manalapan, NJ. I was kicked out of Manalapan and now live in Marlboro with my wife Michelle, 2 children, 3 ferrets and a guinea pig.

I’ve had freshwater fish as a kid. (10 gal tank, guppies etc) But about 10 years ago moved into a more serious planted tank setup. Then for my 40th birthday (almost 3 years ago) my wife agreed to a 90 gallon reef.

My current project is upgrading to a larger system. I have a 150 waiting in the garage drilled and ready to go. In my basement I have 250 gallons connected in various tanks and tubs. I’m working on adding sand, lights, and rock to the basement then putting the display tank in place and moving all my livestock.

My ultimate goal is world peace, but I will be very happy to defend (represent) central New Jersey against the hordes from the north and south

If you would like more information you can contact my press agent (me) and I’ll be happy to chat with you, or have a nosh.

Eric

Thank you to all who voted. It was a close vote and both candidates would have done a fantastic job. Congratulations ReefDrumz (who is out of town and not able to be present to accept his noose... I mean title).

We are now very ready to file for status and we will begin that process come Monday.

We have, as a club, made tremendous strides in the last few months. Great things are on the horizon and I'm glad to be a part of it. Thanks to all of you who've made our success possible. Without your participation we wouldn't be where we are today.

Thanks All! Hopefully I won't let the club down! ;D

It was a nice surprise to come home from Vacation and see that this is finally over.. If there was another tie I think I would have given up! lol

On a side note.. When we were away in Wildwood we stopped at the "Aquarium" on the boardwalk.

My wife and I were very upset when we left. Talk about lack of care and crowded tanks. What a shame! The place was a dumpm the fish looked terrible.

They had a tank of Green Moray's, It was hard to say but I would venture A guess in the 200 - 300 gallon range. They had 4 or 5 of them in there, each at least 3 feet long or more. All crammed in there.

They also had reptiles that looked extremely un happy...There was a monitor lizard ( i forget which kind) When we walked up to the tank it climbed up on the glass and was scratching it and following us around the front glass...I know it sounds weird, but i could swear he just wanted to get the hell out of there.

If anyone was actually inside the place I would have said anything, but we were the only people inside.. what a shame!

Congrats Brian:

Now that you're the Director for the central region, there are a few things that I want to complain about...

:D

if there is anything you need or help of any kind - let me know.

Make sure you talk to Phyl about your expense account.

You get an expense account all right... IME it is called your personal American Express Card! Unfortunately it doesn't get reimbursed by the club.

Labor of love, man... labor of love.

The Club would NEVER use membership dues and donations in that fashion without first clearing it through the membership. My trip, just like the rest of you who are going to MACNA, comes out of my personal finances.

We have come a long way to ensure the trust of our membership and everything we do as a board is geared toward respecting that trust.

I hope everybody realizes I was joking. I apologize if I upset anyone. ???

Glad to see things moving along.......I'm anxious to find out how much money the club has and how many menbers. Even a ballpark figure would be nice.

The club has close to 100 members and close to $2500. We're in good shape to file and have begun the long process. We're reviewing lawyers and options right now and should have something in play by next week.

Thanks!
