Directors at Large Volunteers NEEDED!

The next step to getting our status is to fill out the Board of Directors. We're looking for volunteers for the post of Directors at Large:

There will be three (3) Directors elected at large from the Club membership, one representing each geographical region: North (north of Middlesex/Mercer), Central (Middlesex/Mercer through Northern Ocean/Northern Burlington), South (Southern Ocean/Southern Burlington and points south). An election will be held for each region based on the location of the candidates that volunteer.

The Directors at Large are primarily advisory positions to the board of directors (there are no specific duties charged to the Directors at Large). You will be required to attend the meetings of the board (these are usually conference calls scheduled based on everyone's availability), participate on the Board of Directors email list, and assist as needed at membership meetings that you are able to attend.

Please post/pm/email ( officers@njreefers.org ) if you are interested in holding position for the Directors at Large position in your area. Elections will begin on August 4th and run through August 18.

It is basically an "Other Duties as Assigned" type roll. The hope is that with at least 2 board members in each region of the state we're more likely to get at least one board member to each meeting. While that may not always be possible, that's certainly the goal. That way there's always somebody at the meeting to give membership dues and applications to. Someone to hold the raffles and take minutes. Record who won what, who came. Take pictures.

It spreads out the decison making so that the board is 7 people making the decisions for the club and regardless of who's elected into office there's always representation for each region. The hope is that with 7 people "in charge" if someone becomes inactive there are 6 other people to carry the ball and start the next election to replace them. 7 is a magic number because that way there are an odd number of votes.
