Disturbing Sight

I’m sitting here next to the tank perusing the NJRC forums, to look up and see a recent addition, a Starry Blenny, (my wife has already named it, Jack Blenny...she does these kind of things), resting in its new home...a Koralia powerhead.  The powerhead is off right now because it is on a timer, and only comes on for a period of time every day.  As soon as I finish typing, I think I pull that powerhead.  After some thought, I’ll probably end up putting it back in and just run it continuously.

As it is, I lost one fish today...a clown decided to do a little carpet surfing, probably chased by the almost-mated pair (they're a couple) in the tank.

A little tough to see, but you can make out the white mustache and white eyebrows hanging out of the end of the powerhead.

Do you have a cover for the PH? Then you can keep it on the timer.

Wow thats a dangerous spot. Maybe you could put some caution tape across the front of the koralia. He'll see it and prob wont go in. HAHAHA

If you find the screen for the front, put a few drops of super glue on it then snap it on. with out glue All of mine have fell off sooner than later. So far with the glue they're good

Ah, comedians, all of you. ;D

And Nickjr, I don’t understand why you need to put superglue on the screen. It’s a tapered friction fit from the inside on the cover and, for the life of me, I can’t see how that could get knocked/blown out.

All jokes aside.. Did you fix the prob?

My tang picks algae off my vortechs when they are running slow for the feeding cycle. Only a matter of time....
The butterflies are either too smart or already got their noses smacked!

At first I pulled out the powerhead and clean the stalactites off of it, thinking that I would just leave it out for the mean time. I then started a search through many boxes and was lucky to find one cover and one screen. Popped the cover/screen into the semi-cleaned PH and back into the tank it went. Now I have a PO’ed blenney who’s not able to get into his house. But at least he’s not chum!

Maybe it was the older models i had. You install screen then snap the front part over it. They would both be off in a few weeks everytime i fixed them.

I only put a cover on the one powerhead that was on a timer. So I’m in the tank room today working on the tank and what do I see…Jack trying to go into a running powerhead. With the flow, he just continues to get blown back…but sort of funny to watch. Tonight I go in just to check on things and there he is sleeping on the back of one of the powerheads. Must be a love connection. Sorry for the quality of the picture…taken under Moonlight LEDs with no flash.
