Don't forget to where your glasses

Just putting a dumb mistake of mine out there so newbies are better informed.

While seperating some zoa's got shot in the eye with some juices. This was saturday.(Yes I went to the hospital) My eye has now been like this for 3 days. I have drops and have to go see an optomatrist(not sure of the spelling) What a wonderful Hobby.

Gee whiz, I thought you were winking at me….giving me the eye. ;)

Palys and zoas have some of the strongest bio-toxins. It would appear that you’ll be making a full recovery, but you’re right about notifying newbies about how toxic these little buggers are. Even out of water they can squirt their toxin. Even out of water three or four days in freezing weather they have done nasty things. I got “stung” a couple years ago trying to catch a fish and bumping up against palys and zoas. I broke out in welts where I touched the corals and ended up in bed for a day just feeling sick. Not fun, but I was lucky. If you google, there are good write-ups on these little toxic bombs.

Stay well!

What does it feel like? Itchy? Burning sensation? I hope you feel better.

Feels Dry and like someone is poking me in the eye.

Hospital nurse kept asking me how a rock squirted me in the eye(LOL). Luckily the Doctor listened looked it up and called poison control. He just gave me lubercating drops and said if it gets worse before I can get to the eye doctor come back.

Also got some in my mouth but quickly rinsed with strait peroxide. So I'm thinking thats why I'm not sick.

That could have been a lot worse!! Even if you have cuts or chapped hands while doing this stuff the toxin gets in. Be careful.

Im sorry I can't look past the blackberry! They still make them? j/k

Glad to see its not as serious as some of the other stories I've heard.

I think about this every time I pull some of mine apart and they squirt. It's surprising how far the liquid squirts sometimes. Hope your eye is feeling better soon.

Went to the eye doctor and she said I have 3 ulcers on my eye. Gave me a antibiotic/steroid eye drop. Wonderful.
