Dried SFE

Just found my SFE on the floor pretty dried up and covered in dog hair. Put him in a container of tank water and swooshed it around until most of the hair was off. Just seeing what its chances are of making it through. Just sitting at the bottom of its tank gasping.

From reading that RC thread he has a great chance of survival. I had one in my 180 and he was stuck in the overflow for about a mth I thought he was dead. Never bothered to look in the overflows and my nephew spotted him one day took him out put back in the tank and he was fine... If he is gasping for air I would say you have a great chance for survival as most other. Stories they were dry and crusty and still survived good luck and keep us updated!!!

Yeah you need an impenetrable fortress of a lid to keep those guys in.

Update is he is moving around well and seems to be fine. I'll try to feed it tommorrow and hopefully it will eat.

My problem is he is still real small. He can still squeeze though the white crate I was using on the back end of the tank. I just put a power jet at the back so its a real strong current. Hopefully it will discourage him from going up there.

Get some netting and put it on top of the eggcrate. If it is not in the way of your light you can use black netting which you can get from home depot.
