Dry tank

Ok guys and girls so here is the question, for how long can i have a tank dry, i can get a good deal on a 90g that was emptied off about a month ago and if i get it i can get it set up in about 5 more months, so that means it will be dry for around 6 months, do i have to reseal the tank?
TIA Gabe

Shouldn't be a problem unless exposed to extreme heat/sunlight.. which could crack the silicone seal. Retailers keep tanks in their stores for extended periods of time dry, and god knows how long it was sitting in a warehouse prior to that.

Completely agree with @Wilson I am personally using tanks that where dry for years. However if you wish to do a little something to guarantee the silicone will remain perfect indefinitely. And don’t mind some clean up later. If you smear a thin layer of petroleum jelly over the seams. They can not dry out.

I bought a 120 that had been in storage for a number of years. It was so old that only old timers would remember the configuration of the overflows and the return. It is still in service today, and has never leaked...

Jusy dont store it outside. Sunlight will kill the seals. But if storing in a basement cover it with a blanket so nothing scratches it inside or out.
