how stupid do i realize this is and how much of a mo-ron i feel like. So i go to wally world and buy some rabbit ears for my spare 80's era Color Tyme tv, only to hook them up and nothing work.. so online i go to find a solution and it seems that i need a DTV converter............. where are the simple times?!

i went from "great i can watch some news/tv and the tank at the same time" to crap i gotta spend another $50

Sadly, you can't get the $40 off coupon from the government anymore. I'm seeing a lot of TVs making that last walk to the curb in my neighborhood.
