Emaciated Sailfin Tang

Ok i'm buying a Sailfin that is slightly emaciated from the LFS. it has been there for a couple months with no buyers even though i talk about it everytime i see it. So I'm pulling the trigger today i can't stand to see it suffer any longer. Besides being a little underweight he looks good no rips or tears in his fins decent color.

I have Omega One Flakes in the green can and Dried Nori and spectrum pellets. Should i pick anything else up for it? it's going in the 220 even though there is limited rockwork at the moment.

What is he eating in the store? Have you seen him eat?

Keep nori hanging to graze on all day.

I would add garlic and selcon to whatever you feed.

I would go more with frozen foods than flakes until he starts to gain weight.

it's not that he's not eating at the store but more that i think it's insufficient and a broad, cover all fish food. i forgot i have a pack of mixed frozen stuff.. i'll take some pics tonight and look for garlic/selcon this weekend.

You can pick up some liquid food vitamins to soak food in before the feeding . A little tlc should do it good.

I just wanted to update this and say that the tang is looking good i can no longer see any bulges from bones or internal organs unless it's belly is full.. between him and the coral beauty they destroy the veggie clip i put in every morning

Great job. You should let the lfs know that all it took was a little care to rescue this fish from a certain death . Its a shame because it should be the stores job to preserve an animals health until it gets to the hobbiest . care to share the lfs's name . I would love not to shop there ! ;D

well this is why i said slightly emaciated.. i have seen worse pictures but they did a decent job.. I think that it was probably a flake or pellet food and i never saw algae on a clip.. just a non specific food that they can feed all the fish with. other than that i haven't seen or had any problems with them. it was also there for 3 months maybe. i guess most people have smaller tanks around here? i dunno
