I just wanted to make sure im doing the right thing when topping off my tank after evaporation... I have always just used RO water to replace the evaporated water.. I have never added salt because i didnt think salt evaporated.. Am i doing the right thing???
You are correct. I made the mistake of adding salt and it was not good. I would test your salinity from time to time though encase you do start to lower because of salt spray and things like that.
As Sam says, that's correct. Other than Salt spray, if you were skimming agressively then you would have more water to replace than just evaporation and you would lose salt that way.
Thanks for the replys... It probably seemes like a silly question but i never really thought about it, but lately with the weather being so cold and dry, ive noticed a little more evaporation than normal over the last few weeks..

It certainly depends on general dryness of the air outside your house, as well as heating/cooling system you are using inside the house, the amount of air circulation around the tank, and other contributing factors like using humidifiers or dehumidifers, etc.
