Fingers crossed trying to save this little guy

So I had to pick up a pump at Petco and while I was there I saw this poor little Ruby red in the tank skinny as can be. Figured he would be better off with me so I am going to try and rehab him and fatten him up. I plan on floating him in a container I have in my tank and will try to get him to eat either white worms or frozen foods. Fingers crossed. I want to give him a fighting chance

You could try frozen cyclops- my yellow clown goby only eats pods ( new to tank ) I got it to eat cyclops today-
You're lucky. It's nice to be able to supplement to lessen the dependence on the pod population. My mandarin only picks pods from the rocks. I bought the cyclops and have tried several times and it ignores them. I try with a coral feeder so as to just blow them it's' way and not frighten it but no dice. I've also hatched two batches of brine shrimp and it ignores them too. Same method in the hopes that live food swimming by would entice it. Nope. I've loaded my dt and sump with pods and think I've go enough to be self sustaining now but it would still be great to see it accept something else for my peace of mind.

Awesome thanks for for the offer. I have brine shrimp eggs but I’m feeding him live white worms right now. They are small enough plus they are more enticing for him. I gut load them when feeding them

was he discounted/free?

Reason I ask is I always see people "SAVING" Fish from these chains.
IF people stop buying sick/dying fish to save them, maybe they take better care.
Just wondering...

Was not free but I don’t think that matters especially when these chains hire people that have no clue. They just order the fish and stick them in the tanks in hopes people will buy them. If they die oh well it’s not their problem they could probably care less. I was willing to shell out 19.00 to give him a fighting chance.

For some reason he is not too interested in white worms right now they were wiggling in front of him amd he just stared at them. I decided to make this mini Paul B feeder and currently hatching baby brine shrimp

he might not be eating due to internal parasites. might want to treat him with general cure or prazi pro and see if he eats then.

Sometimes you have to rescue fish in your own tank(s). I had a single Springer damsel in my nano and thought it would be nice to add another or 2- being non aggressive and all- so I bought 2 and right away one of the new ones and the original beat up and I thought the 3rd was going to get killed by the others- was able to catch and put it in my 40- for days it swam in a corner at the surface and didn't seem to eat at all- then just disappeared completely- a week later I caught a glimpse of it in the shadows, another week later and it would dart out for bites of food- now it's part of the gang- they all hang near the the striped blenny- he's got fangs lol

Too bad, sorry. Many bash Petco, I think it's all about the store and how the tanks/ fish are kept. I've bought from the one in Ledgewood and have never had any issues/ problems with the fish- if I had a larger tank I might buy the filefish I saw there the other day ( it was small though)

Yeah man it sucks. We do have a Petco in Bricktown that has nice selection of fish amd coral. The employee there is very good and knows a lot but the other Petco closer to me, their tanks are ugh.
