We have had some for years, we have a few right now. What do you think leads to their short life span? What fish do you have in the tank?

I had multiple wrasses at the time maybe that… but can’t really tell, I never saw them being bothered
I've had one for over a year now. One of our favorites and it's amazing how the fish let it clean them.

how many would you add to a 45g?

My fire shrimp has been hearty as can be. When my heater got unplugged and i had mass dying in my tank, that guy kept on ticking. He's been in there for at least 1.5 years.

I've had mine for close to 2 years at this point. No issue even with a 20g with some parameter swings.

Had them in the past and lived for a year approximately. Now I have a puffer in each tank and won't take the chance of adding shrimp.

Typically we try and keep a pair as they will spawn pretty easily so free fish food.

I've had a coral banded with a fire with no concerns.
Odd that you keep losing them. I've had one in a 30g for about 2 years at this point.
They're pretty straightforward, just give them the required peanut butter sandwich once a week and they last ages.

I honestly think that the reason I lost them was my blue cromis. That’s why I took it out before I added the gupys around a week ago

Nope, never messed with corals.
Only invert I had problems with was a skunk cleaner years back. He'd go after my torches like Edward Scissorhands.

Coral bandeds can be a bit more difficult as they have those big claws for a reason.
