Going to drop in around 9:30 till 11:30 or so, just across from Sinners on the inlet.
Just got a bait caster and going to learn to use it (and basically start the learning curve on marine fishing).
Shooting for malnourished fluke or Bennie jet skis to start.
Going to chill for a couple hours with the kids if anyone interested.

I used to fish there, current is rather strong depending on the tides, let the kids do some crabbing while you fish

Thanks, unsure but had assumed there would be a ton of current. Didn't even think of crabbing for the kids but will make it happen. I'm on a learning curve but will be using a 4oz weight on a fluke rig. I expect nothing but want to get in some practice for next year. Plan on being in the inlet in the kayak before the fluke head out to deeper pastures. All sorta new to me.

Growing up in Manasquan I used to do some crabbing and fishing off the end of the inlet. Definitely going to get some action for the kids. I used to catch some gnarly skates off of there lol

For crabbing, all they need is some string, a fish head or a chicken leg, a long handle net and a bucket- a crab cage will get the bigger ones. There should be plenty of snapper blues ( also bait for crabs). My friend is catching his limit every day for fluke/flounder ( I forget which is which this time of year ) in the bay, so you should have some fun with shorties, maybe even some robbins.

, maybe even some robbins.
Believe it or not these are really good eating fish. You get nice fillets off the bigger ones. A friend and I were fishing one day and catching nothing but big robbins. I decided to keep several and try them as I’d heard they’re good. They’re not throw back fish for me anymore.

So, how was the outing. The inlet was never my favorite place to fish, but always interesting

Hope you got some fish. Doug went offshore fishing a couple of weeks ago. He caught an 80 pound yellow fin tuna. We had some awesome sushi that night. and have been enjoying it ever since.
