Fishless Cycling a tank

I just bought a used 30g cube and bought Dr Tims 1 and only,, Fritz ammonia, 20lbs of live sand, have a few pieces of dry rock and live rock- getting some more from Salted on Sunday. Should I jump start with the ammonia or wait until I have all the rock in the tank and then add the bacteria

you can add some of the bio spira bacteria now then some once you have rock cant really OVER do it i was dosing with it at for a week every day little by little never had an issue people claim to have these huge out bursts of bacteria i never really had that issue alwys had alittle bit of algae appear 2-3 days later gone specially after the first weeks water change i would suck all the gunk out off the sand and such worked for me also stirred the sand bed abit on like day 3-5

Put all of them in and let it cook. I have never really cycled a tank nor used any bacteria additives. Just put a piece of live rock tank is good to go. Add livestock slowly and like everything else, slow. Bacteria will reach a population base on the bioload, adding additional bacteria does nothing.

If you have live rock that will work much faster than Dr. Tims. I started 2 tanks new this year, a 75g and a 45g. The 75g cycled much faster w Dr. Tims and live rock. The 45 g had some issues with cyano and diatoms and went through a massive ugly phase that lasted for about 2 weeks. Using Dr.Tims's alone, it took quite a bit before the ammonia levels started going down. After my ammonia levels and nitrites were at 0ppm and 0.25ppm, respectively, I started adding coral and fish..altogether the 75g took 3 weeks and the 45g took 5 weeks. Both are up and running well now. The 45g is being kept simple, mostly mushrooms and rhodactis, I will probably keep that as a cool fish display tank, small trigger fish or colourful angel fish.

Where are you located? I'm sure there are some members who might help you out with live rock or you can get it from the fish store.
