Frozen Mysis Cube & Feeding how to?

How do you feed your Mysis? I have the cubes of frozen pe mysis. I only have a few fish, so I only use a small portion. When I slice pieces, they come off real small & break up in the water. The fish don't even register the smaller pieces. I feel like I'm wasting it. Is there a trick to this?

Do you feed once a day or more? You might be better off with the "flat" packs rahter than cubes. It's much easier to control portion with the flats.

I feed just once a day.

Yeah, I just noticed the flat packs! I'll have to use that when I'm all out of cubes.

I used to thaw a whole cube, rinse it with tank water, and feed about half with the other half in the refridge for the next day.

i feed a variety of food, mysis, brine, some veggie cube and cyclops, i throw 10 cubes each into a sealeable 1/2 qt container with
tank water, and keep it in the fridge, i just open and splash some in morning and evening,
my critters are fat and happy, then a squirt of live phyto every other day with
the return pump off for 2 hrs, just recirc.

i find we use less food this way, as i feed twice a day, and they eat all i toss in there, for the most part

just give it a shake first, cuz it settles to the bottom of the container

I use a flat pack...break up the pack into smaller size chunks that I place into one of those plastic pharmacy daily pill cases. then every day I just open up a day and take out, thaw and toss in. I noticed the pack has more "whole" pieces of mysis vs the cubes - which tend to have more crushed less recognizable shrimp.

Depends on the brand. Hikari mysis cubes in my experience are actually even more whole mysis than the flat packs. And last longer in my freezer because the flat pack gets freezer burnt in my junk freezer

Break the flat packs up into weekly size portions and vacuum pack them. It will last a lot longer this way.

Right i forgot - i use PE brand. Works fine for my fish although sometimes the little neon goby has like half a shrimp tail sticking out of it's mouth...lol.

When I used to feed less, I would just take a butter knife and cut the cube in half. I would usually just pop the tin cover, leave it in the pack and force the knife into the middle of the cube using the pack to help hold it in place. It would also cut the pack, but not too bad. I've also used flat packs, but some were real think that made cutting harder than cutting the cube.
