Guys, I set up a 150 (old Koi tank)for my Brother in Law back in late October. The tank is in a wall dividing an office and living area and is viewable from both sides with the liverock in the middle. (the rock is doing well Carlo!)
My design consists of 3-250w HQI, 2-160w Super Actinics 72", a coralife superskimmer (250gal model), a CPR overflow box, a 50 Gal sump/fuge, and two Hydor korilla 3 powerheads.
The powerheads were placed high on opposite corners of the tank directed toward the middle (my doing).
From the e beginning he thought that they were an eyesore, wanted to hide them, and tucked them on each side 3" from the live rock, restricting flow around the tank. I told him that the whole tank needs flow, especially if he wants the SPS frags that I gave him to grow and thrive.
Bottom line... This is not about looks!Just go with a fish only tank with live rock then!
I just had to get that out. I'm OK now
Can you guys shed some light on this so he can see it coming from other experienced reefers?
I'll copy and paste your comments and send them to my sister to give to him.
Thanks in advance for your help. ;D
