Gamers? I need help........................Again

So with a new holiday season approaching, my son has decided that he "really really needs" and Xbox One.
Last year we got him the 360 and It looks like it is officially being phased out so we are going to move up. I noticed that most games are not backward compatible(of course) so that sucks. So of course I'll be needing a new Destiny game for him. Anyway, The one I was looking at is the bundle that includes Halo Master chief collection. Xbox One Halo: The Master Chief Collection Bundle
It has a 500GB console. Is that a good starting point or should I get a get a console with bigger drive? I know with 360 you can just add memory. Is it the same with One?
Any and all advice is welcome.
Thank you

John.

The Xbox one is on its last legs too. Just an FYI. But memory is important. Because all these games have to be downloaded to the console. Becomes a data hog. It's like a smart phone with 16gbs. You will be deleting and looking for space when u change games.
You can add memory by buying a hard drive. But gets expensive too.

I would get the 500gb one. But know that it might be replaced in 1-2 years

I thought is just came out. These companies are out of their minds.
I've been doing some looking and since the game it comes with is rated M and my son is only 10 I'm leaning now towards the game less console with 1TB.

Ahem.. Ahem..

I have 2 XBOX 360, one PS4 and 2 XBOX one. I guess that qualifies me as a gamer?

That said, Xbox one is not going anywhere for a while. There are numerous HDD (hard drives) that you can add to xbox one to increase storage.

I think you can add upto 3 TB of HDD now. I have a 2 TB btw.

Halo master chief collection is cheap. Like really cheap. Look at amazon.com. So leave that out of the picture when u get the xbox one.

There are some $299 bundle deals for xbox one this holiday season. Also gamestop has a $150 trade in for a xbox 360 if you so desire.

Also look at Dell, target and walmart. Plenty of deals to grab.

Heck, I might trade in a xbox 360 for another PS4 :D.

Both Xbox One and PS4 are relatively new but in the gaming battle the Xbox is going downhill. More developers are focusing on PS4 and the Xbox is probably going to be a struggling system soon - think Betamax. But, not doubt the system will be supported for a long time. This is non-scientifically supported by my 14 year old nephew - a die hard Xbox fanboy and gamer, who recently (along with a number of friends) traded in his Xbox One at a loss as 'Xbox sucks now' and used the funds to get a PS4. If Xbox cant hold onto a bunch of 14 year old fan boys I'm guessing it confirms a dim future.

Great point Mark_c.... That is what i meant by last legs.... Its lost this generation war to the PS4.

Sunny.... Im getting a PS4 if that is the case. I been wanting one for awhile but couldnt sustify spending 400 plus... but now... wont be soo bad

Thanks everyone for the input. I just now found out that it was already purchased by his grandmother for X-mas. So it has been taken out of my hands. She got the 1TB console. No halo game included which is fine he's only 10 anyway. I suppose after x-max we will hit GameStop to trade in the 360 stuff for new stuff and most of the games he has are not backward compatible(of course). I still have yet to play a game on it so maybe I'll give it a go before its gone.

for the backwards compatible, just wait it out. Currently the games aren't backwards compatible because they haven't gotten approval for licensing to xbox one. the actual console mimics an Xbox360 so there's no changes to any games needed, they will be available shortly.
