Getting Scary out there

I live a block from the bay, high tide in the ocean is now, and experience has taught me that usually high tide in the back bay is about an hour and a half after that of the ocean's. This is what I'm looking at now, never seen it higher than this, been here for more than two years...

Good luck Francis. The end of my street, which ends at Barnegat Bay, was flooded up to the first 3 blocks. The water was crashing over the bulkhead like something you'd see on "Deadliest Catch".

Water was nearly lapping at the edge of the Parkway in a few spots on the way home this afternoon. There were actually breakers ON THE MARSH too.

Well? How did you all fare down by the shore? Those pictures were really something else!

The up-side is that the bar room can now be made BIGGER!!

Just remember that insurance is legalized extortion. Its onnly been 1 day and I already have a headache dealing with them.

Water made it as high as the tree line late evening yesterday, no damage here, although didn't have electricity for several hours this morning don't know what time it went off. Tank is fine, hooked up one powerhead to my portable generator and let it run.

Only lost power for about an hour here. Battery backup for the Vortech kicked in as expected.

question on the generator - gas powered I assume? how big should one have?

I don't have one but last year we had some power outtages - and while brief, I'd like to be prepared.

I do not have a gas powered one, I've had this <a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=r...6kgLO6Cw&sig2=3mcXOvOvwNy9eyNj_-LBcw">one</a>

for 2 years now and it's the first time I used it for my tank. It ran a single tunze 6060 for 4 and a 1/2 hours and was still going till the lights came back on. In hindsight a gas one would be better because if it happened in the winter I would have needed to run a heater as well and my heater is 500 watts compared to the 18w my tunze is.

thanks! I will definitely check that out. I actually prefer the battery - with two young kids - I'd rather not have fuel around.

For anyone interested. Keep it in mind that I have a gas, 6250 AMPS generator that anyone can borrow. It will run your whole house for 8 hours on one tank of gas.
