May 12th- Windy day, saw 4 people catch striped bass off clam on one of the Jetties I fish on- Caught one bluefish and got a little wet with the wind blowing against the incoming tide. Bummer day, but it was exciting to see the fish biting again after being cooped up at home all winter- I went home, no fish in the trunk, but I figured I would go out again soon......
May 14th, 7 pm. Went in to work to watch the store while a painting company painted the back.... shift was 7 pm to 5 am. Did some work, but kept myself busy and occupied during the long night. Decided to go to the tackle store at 6 am the next day, May 15th to pick up some clams. They weren't open yet, but the owner who lives upstairs was kind enough to sell me some clams and 3 herring (I didn't feel like breaking out the Sabiki rigs, but there were tons of herring feeding on the 12th).......
Got to the jetty at 7:30 am, no sleep, tired, but excited..... Caught one blue fish, decent size on the herring...... Then something BIG hit the 9 foot surf pole. Fought it for about 5 minutes, but with the incoming tide, the current and fight was too much for the 20 lb leader......SNAP! BUMMER.......
